I'm sure you can tell that posting has been scanty around here. The reason is that my family and I are moving. We bought our first house! It is the reason I had included "Gather home decor inspiration" in my January goals.
The house is closer to my daughters' school, closer to my husband's work (he still has to commute, but the house is right by the freeway!), closer to my favorite places to shop. All around this house is a huge blessing for us. (Yeah, I even threw in the "b word.")
There is so much work ahead of us in the days to come. I'll admit I feel overwhelmed from time to time because I tend get stuck looking at the little details and not the whole picture. This morning I woke up and pulled out my prayer journal to write all about it when I came across an old entry, which lifted my spirits. I had read a children's story from this site, and maybe it is juvenile, but I liked it so much that I printed it out and pasted it in my journal. I am going to share it. I hope you don't mind! :)
"Thanks for the cake...
A boy is telling his grandmom how awful things are going for him. He is complaining about school, the weather, his boredom, etc... The grandmom, is meanwhile, in the middle of making a cake. Trying to change the subject she asks if he would like a snack. His reply is of course, 'YES.' 'How about some cooking oil?' 'No way!' he responds. 'Okay, how about some flour?' 'Gross, Grandma!' he said. 'Well, would you like a stick of butter or maybe some baking soda?' 'GRANDMA! What's wrong with you?' The grandma then explains that alone, all these things don't sound very good, but when you put them all together in the right order, they make a delicious cake. When we take all the things God gives us, alone, they may not all taste very good, but when we look at them in the right order and they are all part of the same plan, things look better. The recipe for a delicious life is to enjoy the whole cake, not the individual parts."

That said, with all the work ahead of us, I am going to keep the big picture in mind and enjoy the whole cake. I hope you will join me on this journey. As always, I love your input. :)
